Market Overview:

The Global India Water & Wastewater Treatment Chemicals Market size was valued at USD 695 million in 2021 and is projected to register a valuation of USD 1,295 million by 2030, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 8.9% over the forecast period 2022-2030. The rising use of wastewater treatment chemicals for various end-use industries such as distillery, chemical, food and dairy, pulp and sugar, paper, textiles, bleaching, and tanneries for odor detection and removal, chemical and organic matter is the factor driving the growth of the market.

A large amount of water used in industrial units and domestic use is discharged as contaminated water. This contaminated water pollutes any water body. This makes the water source unfit for drinking or other human consumption. Many times the level of pollution in the water source increases to such an extent that it cannot even be used for livestock or agricultural work. Therefore, proper treatment of this contaminated water before discharge into any water body is necessary to minimize the adverse effects on water bodies.

According to the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, contaminated water must be treated as per prescribed norms. Depending on the nature of the contaminated water, polluted water treatment plants are created by different industrial entities. Generally, a wastewater treatment plant consists of an equilibrium tank, neutralization tank, settling tank, physical/chemical treatment tank, filtration tank, solar evaporation tank/lagoon, etc. Multi-level sewage treatment plants are constructed to treat specific types of industrial waste. Water such as contaminated water with high organic content, for example, distilleries, paper mills, etc. These include primary care, secondary care, and tertiary care.

Covid-19 Impact Analysis:

The outbreak of COVID-19 and the subsequent extent of the lockdown have impacted the India water & wastewater treatment chemicals market across the globe. As the Covid-19 crisis continues, many global industrial manufacturing companies are facing challenging times including production shutdowns, transportation, supply chain disruptions, cost increases, and workforce disruptions, which negatively affect the India water & wastewater treatment chemicals industry in terms of revenue.

Many Companies had cut their production from about 30% to 40%, which led to a decline in the production of wastewater, which negatively affect the wastewater treatment chemicals within the country.

Driving Factors:

The rise in water pollution levels due to rapid industrialization and urbanization has led to an increase in the installation of sewage treatment plants and river cleaning initiatives by the Government of India. With the unprecedented growth in India's population and its industrial landscape, there has been an alarming increase in the amount of wastewater released over the past few years.

Demand for water and wastewater treatment chemicals in India is increasing due to the rise in waterborne diseases and stringent government regulations on the discharge of polluted water from various industries.

Poor infrastructure for water and wastewater treatment, poor legislation and enforcement by various agencies, and no prevailing standards on the quality of water used are holding back the India water & wastewater treatment chemicals market.
